BUDINETTO (su trau)
Locality:
Cala Gonone
Access:
When you arrive at Cala Gonone, turn left just before
the petrol station and the “Hotel Mastino”; leave your
car and follow the small road to the amphitheatre on
foot (5 minutes). Recommended season: throughout the
whole year.
Description:
Wonderful limestone cliff; ideal for those who like to
climb on easy and secure routes.
Position / orientation:
West side; from early morning until noon there is
shadow; accessible throughout the whole year.
Style/technique:
Face climbing on faces washed out by erosion; in the
areas of higher pitches the faces are even vertical.
Height :
From 15 to 18 metres.
Execution:
The routes are bolted.
Ropes:
60 metres long.
Recommended season:
Throughout the whole year.
Number of routes:
About 22.
Nailing / pegging:
Very well equipped with resin-anchored bolts and
pitons. Belay stations with pitons and chains.
Notes:
The slabs of FLINTSTONE are situated on the opposite
cliff, on the left side of the steep face mentioned
above; upper part. Time: 10 minutes.
Access:
Follow the route described above until the first tree
on the left, then proceed across the section of the
furrows up to the foot of the evident rock wall. (5
ways).
BUDINO DEI GIGANTI – “GIANTS’ PUDDING”
(monte Chessavia)
Locality:
Cala Gonone
Description:
Huge rock massif that resembles a pudding. The kind of
climbing is exclusively traditional. Some routes have
been fitted out with pitons and climbing devices by
the mountain troops. It is composed of limestone with
many cracks in the rock.
Position /orientation:
It is situated on the north-east side.
Nailing / pegging:
Pitons and bolts on some routes. Loops of webbing on
the spot; take nuts and friends with you.
Height:
The routes are from 150 to 200 metres long.
Number of routes:
There are 12 routes with many possibilities.
Ropes:
2
ropes, 50 metres long each.
How to arrive:
Take the track to the “Budinetto”, but instead of
driving to the sheepfold, turn into the little road on
the left, proceed for 100 metres and leave your car
on the open space an the right; it will take 10
minutes to arrive at the foot of the rock face.
