 Monte Irveri (High area) “Soledad”

Locality: Cala Gonone

Access: Follow the road from the harbour to Cala Cartoe or Osalla. Take the cemented panoramic road. Park your car and climb up for about 50 metres above the road up to the cliff. The high area is situated shortly before the pass of the slope of Dorgali.


Description:
The rock consists of solid limestone with bars and holes; some overhangs.

Recommended season: Throughout the whole year. Avoid windy days.

Position / orientation: North-east side .

Height: About 15 metres.

Execution:

Ropes: 60 metres.

Nailing /pegging: Bolts – resin-anchored bolts – belay stations with fixed cords.

Number of routes: About 12.

 Monte Irveri (Area “Arcadio”)

Locality: Cala Gonone

Access: Drive to the turn-off to Cartoe and follow the cemented road for about 900 metres until the second bend; the area is easy to find; the track leads along the cliff. The steep face on the right hand is the new area of MANOLO (about 5 minutes).

Description: On the left side of the area a grey limestone amphitheatre and yellow steep faces in the bottom right-hand corner. Vertical faces with extreme overhangs.

Recommended season:

Position / orientation: South-east side.

Height: From 55 to 30 metres.

Execution / realizzation:

Ropes: 60/70 metres.

Nailing / pegging: From bolts to some resin-anchored bolts – belay stations with fixed chains and fixed loops of webbing.

Number of routes: At the moment there are about 15 routes.

Monte Irveri (area “borotalco” - “talcum powder”)

Locality: Cala Gonone

Access: Proceed like you did to the “Soledad” area, but go back for 200 metres. The cliff is in the lower part of the road.

Description: Vertical limestone faces.

Recommended season:

Position / orientation: North-east side.

Height: 20 metres.

Execution:

Ropes: 60 metres long.

Nailing / pegging: The routes are equipped with bolts and resin-anchored bolts, belay stations with fixed cords.

Number of routes: There are only three.
